Graphic Notation and Blurring the Boundary Reading

Graphic Notation:
Description:
Above is the link to my audio clip by D. Boon titled "my part", which I chose to represent for my graphic notation attached. The audio piece I selected has a short duration (57 seconds) with active and engaging vocals. The artist is playing guitar and singing words that interest me and caught my attention immediately as I felt I could relate and understand his spoken language. I represented my work initially in a blind illustration of how i reacted to the volume of the piece and later filled in the symbolic icons of different sounds. At the bottom of the page I included a key to describe the meaning of each image with different colours for the most clear interpretation for my audience. A a whole I assume it could be a piece of poetry or a song. The emotive content in this song is connected to my ability to relate to the words we says and imagine my own experiences related to school, work, and dreams. Overall my impression of this work relates to the fact that it could be more interesting if it were longer duration and the words were more descriptive about his feelings towards the subject matter he is singing. I enjoy the guitar audio in the background, which could be paired with the tapping of a foot or clapping of hands to add the the variety of noise.

Blurring the Boundaries Reading:

The image I choose below best represents my interpretation of the reading this week as it engages multiple elements at once in this installation. In the reading it claims that sound installation is about the spatial arrangement/ location that engages sounds and plays on the concept of time as well. In this picture you can see the set up of the explosions are strategically placed to allow the viewer to witness in within the room and receive a multiple senses experience. The range in noise as it rings through out and bounces off the walls. To the colour scheme included by the clouds of explosive air. When one element is changed such as the spacing in the room it directly impacts our physical and mental experience. It is important to look how all theses singular elements work together as one to engage the eye and ear similar to what is explained in the article. I would like to end my post on a general statement from the reading that states, we as humans are living in a soundscape of our everyday lives that is different for all and it ever changing.
